Theme 2010: Be Ye Steadfast

As always with an oncoming new year the etheric field is jammed pack with hopes, wishes, and resolutions as millions prepare to project a better image of themselves for the next twelve months.  After all it is the New Year and that is what everyone is supposed to do, right?  I personally enjoyed bringing in the New Year by resting, relaxing, and renewing.  Taking advantage of this mentally light period, I also did my fair share of reviewing, prioritizing, and marking a few personal goals off the old to-do list.  During those weeks of gentle progression I had quite a bit of time to muddle over the current year and its personal meaning for me as well as other kindred souls in the Universe.   Decidedly the tarot card I am featuring as the general theme for 2010 is:  Knight of Pentacles aka Prince of Disks

This Prince (or Knight) is the dutiful task master of the court crew who is happiest when he and all around him are engrossed within the trenches doing their job.  The Rider Tarot Deck presents this Knight on top of a black mare, holding a pentacle, and looking out over a seemingly barren field with a bit of determination etched on his face.  The pentacle resting upright on his palm represents possibilities.

Two personal descriptions I ascribe to this court advancer are drone and headless horseman.  I apply the word drone simply because his work ethic reads as both instinctual and forced laboring.  The epithet of headless horseman derives from the fact that this knight’s procession is often done with little thought of self or anything else.  His task is his focus.

Interestingly enough a beautiful portrait of this Knight as a headless horseman is presented in The Bohemian Gothic Tarot illustrated by Alex Ukolov.  With that, expect to see this driven squat body solider slow treading throughout the year here at MGD.  He, just like the massive currently unyielding field before him, will have plenty to share when ready.
